Season 2009 - Wrap Up
The Crows finished last year fifth on the ladder. The season started off slowly, and once regarded as a defensively minded team,
they added the dimension of attack to their game plan and discovered they could actually score some points.
This was also true for their fantasy production as they were fifth in scoring as a team in the DT competition.
Another pleasing aspect to the Crows in 2009 was the emergence of their younger players to replace the ageing core that carried this
team for the past few years. And although they mostly maintained their lofty standards, names like Simon Goodwin, Tyson Edwards and
Andrew McLeod will soon be replaced (in terms of influence) by the next generation in Kurt Tippett, Chris Knights, Bernie Vince, Andy Otten,
Patrick Dangerfield and Taylor Walker.

On the rise
Kurt Tippett. Despite the publicity and come dominant performances last year, Tippett was an inconsistent fantasy performer. He stayed perdominantly forward
(after rotating in the ruck the previous year) and showed the potential of a player ready to take the next step. His 50 goals and a new contract were rewards
of his hard work as he continues to learn the game (Tippett comes from a basketball background). Look for Tippett to improve yet again in his third year and reduce the number of bad games that kept his
DT average below 73 and SC average at 80.
Burning Question: Does Bernie Vince take the next step?
Vince was named in the preliminary 40-man All-Australian squad last year and expect him to be knocking on the door again to make the final cut.
In a break-out season, Vince won the clubs best and fairest and was also his team's highest Dream Team and Super Coach scorer. That's what happens when
two of the clubs greatest players in Simon Goodwin and Mark Riccuito sit you down and give you some home truths. Since that heart-to-heart, Vince has
been on the rise and rise.
Vince has complemented his enormous talent with a work ethic to match and seems destined to join the rank of the games elite midfielders.
