Season 2009 - Wrap Up
Carlton finished seventh on the ladder last year. In an ordinary year, you could extrapolate, interpolate and make reasonable
assumptions on where Carlton are headed. That was before they lost 86 goals last year and 185 goals the previous two
years in trading Fevola to Brisbane.
On the positive side, Murphy and Gibbs are stars who have still have improvement in them. And if Waite can return to anywhere
close to what he was in the first half, this will go a long way to making up for Fevola's loss (but you never truly cover a player who
scores almost 190 goals in 2 years).

Under The Gun
The Carlton Forward Line.
Lachie Henderson/Matthew Kreuzer/Sentana O'Hailpin/Eddie Betts. Take your pick because you don't lose
86 goals of production and replace it like for like. Maybe they should have signed the Bulldogs forward coach. Then again,
"you can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh-t" as the level of talent in the Carlton forward line minus Fevola is
not even close.
Burning Question: How will Waite return from a knee reconstruction?
A successful Waite return will be a bonus so don't look for him to score 90+ in 87% of his games as he did in the first 8 last year. The fact that he went down in round nine
does not bode well for any significant contribution to your fantasy team. Traditional knee reconstructions generally takes a full year for the player
to just get a game and another year for them to be back playing confidently. Although he'll be heavily discounted, waite (pun intended)
and see how it plays out until making a decision.
Some fantasy football stats for Jarrad Waite:
Averages DT (107) SC (98)
High DT (127) SC (143)
Low DT (59) SC (64)
90+ Points DT (5/8) SC (7/8)
* The above numbers have ignored the 2 & 7 he scored in round 9 when he did his knee.
