Port Adelaide Power

Season 2009 - Wrap Up
Port Adelaide finished ninth last year with the nine wins. They've lost what once was the pillars that held their midfield together in Breandan Lade and Shaun Burgoyne. However, Port Adelaide are now moving forward and the team that won the 2004 premiership and have only 6 players left from that side. They got games into their younger players coming through in Hamish Hartlett, Matthew Broadbent, Travis Boak, Alipate Carlile, Robbie Gray, Nathan Krakouer, Nick Salter and Jason Davenport. Their frustratingly inconsistent form and lapses where they got belted have raised questions about their mental state and hardnesss. They have hired ex-Kangaroos coach to help in this area because the coaching has not changed much since they retained Mark Williams for another two years.

Under The Gun
The Chad was once regarded the premier defender in fantasy footbal. Now, with age and injury surfacing more frequently, Chad Cornes can no longer be counted upon have missed 13 games since his stellar 2007 season where he averaged 102 in DT and 117 in SC whilst playing playing every game. Fantasy owners will still more likely than not take a punt on Cornes recapture past glory but sometimes it is just that, the past.

Burning Question: Can Steven Salopek stay healthy?
Steven Salopek ability to find space and use the ball is unquestioned. Neither is his fantasy scoring scoring potential, as evidenced by his 100+ average in weeks 1-6 for SC and DT. What is questioned, is his ability to stay healthy as he once again was struck by injury (this time a shoulder in week 7). His burst out of the 2009 blocks was halted and was fairly ineffective upon his return. However, he did get rolling again, after a rest in round 13, he averaged 95 and 92 respectively for DT and SC over the next 4 weeks before frustrating his fantasy owners with another injury. This time he played 1 more game for the rest of the year. His game totals for the past three years are 13, 15 and 16. He be a risky pick again, but if he stays healthy, you will have a leg up on a lot of fantasy rivals.

Some fantasy football stats for Steven Salopek:
Averages DT (85) SC (84)
High DT (115) SC (138)
Low DT (34*) SC (24*) * due to injury
90+ Points DT (9/16) SC (7/16)
Sub-70 Points DT (4/16) SC (4/16)
