Saint Kilda Saints

Season 2009 - Wrap Up
St. Kilda finished the home and away fixture on top, didn't lose a game until round 20 and was clearly best team all year. But history will show the Geelong Cats were the premiers of the season and making the grand final counts for naught. St. Kilda was also the number one scoring team in the Dream Team competition, with players who could rack up big numbers and a defence that simply swarmed and choked the oppostion. Their big names produced big numbers, whilst their lesser types started to step it up, look for more of the same next year.

Under The Gun
Trading away a number one pick for Lovett was already a polarising move. But getting arrested for drunkeness just as the Saints started their preseason training has really put the gun on Lovett.

Burning Question: Can St. Kilda's aging ruck division carry them another year?
Michael Gardiner and Steven King are 30 and 31 years old respectively so the question is whether they can hold form long enough to make a substantial contribution deep into next season. They started off very strong, with talk of All-Australian selection for Gardiner, however, injury and discipline issues saw them miss a chunk of games late into the season. Even though both Gardiner and King aren't going to make a huge impact in terms of fantasy scoring, poor ruck play will impact St. Kilda array of fantasy superstars.
